Finishing a house made of aerated concrete blocks

Originally, aerated concrete was produced as insulation for houses. Due to the use of new technologies, gas silicate blocks began to be made. This material has a porous structure and high vapor permeability. Therefore, the external finishing of the house of aerated concrete is a responsible process in the highest degree. It must be carried out after all the wet interior work has been completed.

One of the materials used for exterior finishing is powder vapor permeable plaster for aerated concrete. First, a primer is applied and the joints are covered with mortar. The surface is primed. Plaster is applied in two layers: the first on the reinforcing mesh, the second leveling. It adheres tightly to the blocks and additionally fastens the wall. After it dries, you can give the building an optimal look and apply the finish texture finish.

Painting the aerated concrete

A special paint, designed only for this type of work, is suitable for a wall made of gas silicate. It should have a higher vapor transmission coefficient than porous concrete blocks.

Before it can be applied, a certain amount of work must be done.

Required to thoroughly clean the wall, prime, seal and caulk seams with a powder filler, remove all protrusions. Then comes a dense priming the surface. And even on the dry wall is laying a layer of vapor-permeable putty, and then goes painting.

Facing the house of aerated concrete has several directions

Stone – granite, marble, limestone, porcelain, quartzite, slate, travertine. Exterior decoration of the house stone gives the building a great look. This material requires virtually no maintenance. It has a high resistance to temperature changes and other atmospheric influences.

Brickwork. A natural air gap of 3-5 cm is created between the bricks and blocks. This contributes to good ventilation and does not accumulate condensation.

Clinker tiles. It is placed on the prepared surface. The walls are plastered in two layers with a cement-sand mortar with the addition of a special glue. This will not prevent the withdrawal of excess moisture outside. The first layer of plaster is reinforced with a metal or fiberglass mesh. Clinker tiles are laid on the frost-resistant and hydrophobic adhesive, while leaving a large gap between its rows. To ensure the best reliability of the facing of concrete blocks it is necessary to produce an intermediate reinforcement layers of plastic or metal dowels, nails or stainless steel screws, which are hammered into the gas silicate masonry. Fixing pins are embedded in the joints between the clinker. The density of connection points should be 4-5 pieces per 1 square meter.

Ventilated facade. Vinyl siding, decorative and metal panels.

For hinged facade is made crate of wooden or metal profiles. After the erection of the frame air gap is formed on average 5-15 cm. The entire structure consists of fixing brackets, horizontal bearing bars and vertical profiles. The purlins are attached to the concrete blocks with dowels, nails and self-tapping screws.

When erecting such a frame, each lower hole for mounting can be drilled at a slight slope to allow excess condensate to flow away from the gas silicate wall.

Decorative vinyl siding and metal panels are attached to a pre-installed crate. To mount using nails or expansion anchors. The resulting hinged facade provides the required degree of ventilation, contributing to an optimal microclimate inside the building.

Vinyl siding as the material is cheaper and lighter, compared to metal panels. Is not inferior in practicality and durability, looks great on public and residential buildings. Choose the color and texture of the sheets can be in the form of imitation stone, wood of different species and colors.

What kind of finish you choose for the house is up to you, but remember that the popularity of using aerated concrete blocks in construction is growing to this day.
